Ever wonder why Mentos mints foam when dropped into soda?

The scientists over at EepyBird.com have put the chemical reaction between Diet Coke and Mentos to spectacular use by re-creating a minty version of the Bellagio Fountains, complete with music by Audiobody.com (you’ll need QuickTime to view the video).

Mixed from 101 2-liter bottles of Diet Coke and 523 Mentos mints (they don’t specify whether original or mixed fruit), Fritz Grobe and Stephen Voltz majestically spray over 100 jets of soda in under three minutes.
