Hey there, pokernuts. Ol’ Mickey’s been trying to stay cool and hanging close to home of late. I’d planned for a break due to the BARGE event usually scheduled around this time-o-year at the Plaza. It gets a little crazy in the poker room with all those rgp-ers and I’m rather fond my bankroll, thank you very much, and not hankering to see it go to folks who acutally know how to play poker.

Richard Lee from San Antonio, Texas is fourth on the chip list with $8.68 million.
Rumor has it, howsome-ever, that the suits over there are askeered of a period and three little letters, namely .com. and sent the BARGE-ers packing. Caesars was going to pick up the slack, but I hear they also turned tail and ran from the afeared dotcom, as well. George Orwell must be perking up in his grave right about now (he is dead, right?).
So, while I’ve been resting my feet on a block of ice and knocking back some Buds, I’ve been keeping up with what’s happening over at the WSOP by way of this wonder they call the interweb. Who the hell wants to get out into the hell that is a Las Vegas summer, huh?
There’s another major poker tournament in town at the Bellagio Resort, the Bellagio Cup II.
There’s been a river of stories flowing from the Rio by way of the back breaking hard work of a bunch of writers who, by now, must be bereft of any semblance of sanity. On the cusp of the WSOP Final Table event, I thought it fitting to give those good folks a nod.
While bouncing around the room, to say nothing of bouncing off the walls, the inimitable Dr. Pauly (and writer for LVVdc) has once again pulled no punches to tell his WSOP story. He not only has given us the scoop from the felt, but the grit and grime from under the table as well. From the Poker Stars Blog Otis & Wil with help from pal CJ (UFP & WWdN) have kept track of the 7,942 Poker Stars contenders (I may be exaggerating that number, but not by much).
WSOP Champion Dan Harrington playing in the Bellagio Cup II.
Dan Michalski assembled a stable of writers for Party Poker’s Poker Blog – Jen, Amy, Tuscaloosa Johnny, BJ Nemeth and “this is” April, to name a few. The dwarf housewife himself, Iggy even made an appearance over there (my invitation was, no doubt, lost in the mail?).
John Juanda playing in the Bellagio Cup II.
Last and certainly not least are my stalwart colleagues here at LVVdC – the Poker Prof who’s secreted away in a bunker in the desert keeping the servers serving up Flipchip’s second to none WSOP photos.
My hat’s off to these folks. I lift my Bud to them. The dad-gum suits in charge over there at the WSOP need to get the corn-cob outta their butts and see what they’re missing by not granting these gypsies ALL ACCESS.
That’s all. Remember to tip your dealer. See you in seven, or thereabouts.
